Qualicum
Beach Fire Department Training is founded on NFPA Standards.
The members of the department train constantly in a variety
of disciplines. All Members train to the NFPA 1001 Level 2 Firefighter
Standard.
The department also trains in accordance with many other NFPA Standards. Some examples are Officer Programs, Auto Extrication, Incident Safety, Apparatus Operators, Technical Rescue and Medical Services.

The
Prevention Division is responsible for Regular Fire Code inspections
of all business activities in our community. As well, they conduct
Public Education and Fire Investigations. The department uses
NFPA certified members to deliver these services and programs.
The department provides several public education programs, including an annual youth education program known as Boot Camp. This program educates students in fire prevention and provides insight to possible future career paths.

The
Emergency Planning Division provides Community wide Emergency
Planning. The department maintains a common Emergency Plan with
other jurisdictions in the Mid Vancouver Island Area.
The Town of Qualicum Beach also belongs to the Mid-Island Emergency Coordinators Group (MIECM) that promotes ongoing preparedness and planning development between other communities. The Town also conducts annual exercises of the Emergency Operations Center. The community also has several Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Programs that encourage citizens to be prepared in the case of emergencies.

The
Operations Division organizes all emergency responses. The department
has seen an increase of its services and are responding currently
to over 500 emergencies annually from fires to motor vehicle
accidents. The department also responds to other jurisdictions
for Auto Extrication and Technical Rescue.
All members of the department are part of general fire suppression, which includes automobile extrication and fire suppression duties. The department also maintains special teams in the areas of Technical Rescue, Medical Services and Urban Heavy Rescue.
